Breach of agreement alleged

ITANAGAR, Jan 17: Lekhi Panchayat ISBT Transport Welfare Committee has lodged a complaint with Parliamentary Secretary of PWD Techi Kaso, alleging breach of agreement made between the government and Borum Panchayat with regards to appointment of group ‘C’ and ‘D’ employees in the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT).
The committee stated that a meeting was held between the Borum Panchayat and the state government in 2011, wherein it was agreed upon by the government that preference would be given to the land donors and locals of Lekhi village and 1-Borum Panchayat in the appointment of group ‘C’ and ‘D’ posts in the ISBT.
It claimed that the same was also verbally agreed by the General Manager of the Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services on submission of a memorandum by the Lekhi Panchayat ISBT Transport Welfare Committee.
However, the committee stated, few appointments in the post of booking clerk, mechanic (Gd-ll) and other Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ posts were made on officiating basis, in violation of the agreement.
The committee sought the intervention of the parliamentary secretary on the matter and said that failure to do so will compel it to resort to democratic movement against the erring officer.
