Wakka Wancho Football Championship kicks off

WAKKA (Longding), Jan 17: The Wakka Wancho Football Championship 2018, organized by the 16th Assam Rifles deployed in Wakka was kicked off on Tuesday.
The objective behind organizing the tournament is to improve the relations between the Army and public through sports, providing them an opportunity to interact and know each other better as well as promote sports among the youths of Wakka.
Three matches were played on the first day, wherein Chop village team beat Longkai 6-4, Chon-gkhow beat Khogla 3-2 and Ngissa beat Kaimoi 3-1.
Teams from 10 villages under Wakka circle are participating in the tournament.
The main force behind the tournament is the Wakka Post Commander Captain Ajay of the 16th Assam Rifles.
The villagers were also provided rice and other essential items by the Army.
