Committee serves ultimatum over TAH

DAPORIJO, Jan 19: The newly-formed Joint Action Committee-Trans Arunachal Highway (JAC-TAH), comprising ‘intellectuals from Tagin, Nyishi and Galo tribes,’ has served a week’s ultimatum to the Upper Subansiri district administration to meet its demands pertaining to the construction of the Trans-Arunachal Highway.
The committee’s demands include immediate start of maintenance work on the Ziro-Tai road; start of highway construction work on the Bopi-Tai stretch; and termination of TK Consortium and ECI Pvt Ltd for failing to start work on the highway.
The committee said it would launch a series of democratic movements here and in the state capital if the authority fails to meet its demands.
It said the movement would include dharnas, bandhs, display of black flags, and boycotting the Assembly, Parliamentary and panchayat elections.
