ITANAGAR, Jan 30: The rank and file of the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) observed Martyrdom Day at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday.
The day marked the 70th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.
Congress party leaders and workers paid floral tributes to the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi as a mark of respect.
Remembering Gandhi as an apostle of peace who stood for non-violence and made the supreme sacrifice in achieving freedom for the country, APCC members pledged to follow the path of non-violence shown by him and uphold the idea of India as envisioned by the leaders of the freedom movement.
APCC vice president Minkir Lollen, ex-minister Bida Taku, APCC general secretaries Tachu Hina and Chera Taya, APYC president Geli Ete, and state NSUI president Teli Mello Camdir were also present on the occasion.
