AALO, Feb 8: West Siang Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan inaugurated a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts at Lower Hiker Gumin here on Wednesday.
Lauding NGO Mother’s Vision, which set up the rehabilitation centre, the DC said the administration would support it in every possible way.
“Drug addiction has adverse impact on the development of a society, and one can no longer remain indifferent to the growing vice,” she said.
Mothers’ Vision chairman Jumde Yomgam Gamlin said the rehabilitation centre would help provide proper education and recovery to drug addicts in the district, and the centre’s counsellor, Canady Bagra spoke about addiction treatment, withdrawal, recovery, and remedies to drug addiction.
Former minister Doi Ado, DMO Dr Nyage Geyi and members of the APWWS, the Galo Ane and other women organizations were also present on the occasion. (DIPRO)
