PASIGHAT, Feb 22: A media team consisting of print, electronic and online portal and UNICEF Northeast landed in East Siang with an objective to document the ongoing Measles-Rubella Vaccine (MRV) campaign in the district and other parts of Arunachal Pradesh, including Papum Pare district.
The team is interacting with health authorities, beneficiaries and stakeholders, and also visiting rural areas and various schools to highlight the success rate of the MRV campaign underway in East Siang district, which it hoped would set an example for the rest of the country.
Interacting with the visiting media persons at his office here on Wednesday, District Medical Officer Dr M Perme gave details of the positive and successful MRV month-long campaign, which is now at the last sweeping activity round under the constant supervision of Deputy Commissioner cum Chairman of the District Health Society, Tamiyo Tatak.
The DMO also gave a power-point presentation on the meticulous planning and sustained awareness campaign through radio Jingles (AIR has a wide reach particularly in rural areas) and social media.
The team also interacted with Deputy Director of School Education, J Yirang, Deputy Director, ICDS, Ponung Ering Angu, District Reproductive & Child Health Officer (DRCHO) cum District Immunisation Officer, Dr T Gao.
Under the guidance of the DRCHO and health workers, the team also visited Pongging village in Upper Siang district to gain firsthand knowledge on MRV campaign in remote rural areas and interacted with PRIs, gaon burahs and other villagers.
The team also visited the Kendriya Vidyalaya at Pasighat to witness a vaccination session under the sweeping activity. (DIPRO)
