LAPANLANG, Feb 24: The Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) department of the Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic College (RGGPC) conducted an industrial tour for the final year students of the EEE dept at the North Eastern Regional Load Dispatch Centre (NERLDC), Power Grid Complex, Lapalang, Shillong on 23 February.
The team was guided by lecturer cum course director Bengia Taday.
During the study visit, the NERLDC resource persons gave a PowerPoint presentation on the function of the regional load dispatch centre, including installed capacity, load demand, power protection system in the northeast.
The NERLDC experts, led by Deputy General Manager, MK Ramesh also demonstrated various parameters of electrical power system. Ramesh informed the visiting students that Arunachal Pradesh does not have its own state load dispatch centre yet in contrary to most of the states and union territories.
Earlier, Assistant General Manager (HR) VF De Souza highlighted the importance of the National Load Dispatch Centre, Regional Load Dispatch Centre and State Load Dispatch Centre.
This was one of its kind visits, as students were familiarized with real time operation and control of electrical power system. It provided them much-needed insights into practical application of Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA), a release said.
There are seven states, namely Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram and Meghalaya under the NERLDC.
