ROING, Feb 27: A total of 42 members from different SHGs of Lower Dibang Valley district are undergoing the National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD)-sponsored training on mushroom cultivation, cake and paper bag making under Micro Enterprise Development Programme (MEDP) which began here at the AMYAA office on Tuesday.
Addressing the first day of the training session, AMYAA secretary R K Paul Chawang explained the history of mushrooms, their nutritional properties and commercial value.
He said that mushroom cultivation would enhance the socio-economic status of rural masses, especially women entrepreneurs.
During the demonstration, paddy straw soaking, steaming, drying and mushroom cylinder preparations were explained.
Among others, APRB branch manager P B Chetry, Agriculture Development Officer R D Singh and AMYAA members attended the inaugural function.
