APIC imposes penalty

ITANAGAR, Feb 28: The Arunachal Pradesh Information Commission (APIC), Itanagar has imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 under section 20(1) of the Right to Information Act, 2005 on Yingkiong PWD Executive Engineer RN Singh for refusing to furnish complete information on schemes implemented within his division, which was sought by one Kaban Jonkey.
The APIC further directed him to furnish the remaining information within 15 days and appear before the Commission on 2 April next.
The Commission has also imposed a penalty of Rs 25,000 to Dirang ADC, Dagbom Riba for refusing to furnish complete information pertaining to disbursement of compensation of Rs 4,72,72,123 on community land at Lish Vilage by the Indian army from Deputy Commissioner Bomdila.
The information was sought by Phurpa Tsering, Dorjee Thinley and Rinchin Dondhup.
The Commission had earlier also issued an order, dated 16 February to the ADC to appear before the Commission along with the remaining information, but he “deliberately defied” its order, which led to invocation of section 20(1) of RTI Act 2005, the APIC order read.
