PASIGHAT, Jan 21: Floral tributes were paid to former minister Kabang Borang on his 6th death anniversary at his Mirku Dapi residence here on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner Tamiyo Tatak, ADC T Borang, ZPC Kaling Dai, BBK president Oyem Dai, many retired administrative officers and senior leaders, well wishers were present on the occasion and offered prayers for late Borang, who is still remembered as political guru of many leaders.
Born in Ayeng Village under Mebo sub-division of East Siang district, Borang served the state as Member of Agency Council (PR) and Pradesh Council from 1972 to 75. He was an MLA in the Provisional Legislative Assembly (1975-78). He was elected MLA from Geku-Mariyang constituency for three consecutive terms (1990, 1995 and 1999), and became cabinet minister of the first Legislative Assembly and held the portfolios of Transport from 1 March to 30 March, 1995, Forest, Law and Judicial, Planning Department from March 1995 to June 1998 and Home Affairs from 18 September to 2 August, 2003.
Borang breathed his last in 2012.
