Union urges firm to start work on road

JAMIN, Mar 23: Expressing concern over the delay in the construction of the double-lane road from Yapap Hogu to Meer boundary, the All Kra Daadi District Students’ Union (AKDDSU) has urged the construction firm, TK Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd, to start the construction work at the earliest.
The union informed in a press release on Friday that it had submitted a memorandum to the Kra Daadi deputy commissioner on 19 January, seeking early disbursement of land compensation pertaining to the Trans-Arunachal Highway (TAH) project in the district and handing over of the road project to the construction agency before the onset of monsoon.
It said that it received a reply from the ADC (HQ) on 9 February, informing that land had been acquired and compensation paid with regard to the Yapap Hogu-Meer boundary road, and that the work had been handed over to the National Highways Infrastructures and Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) and concessionaire, TK Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd.
‘If the district administration has already handed over the highway construction work to the NHIDCL and TK Engineering Consortium Pvt Ltd, then why has the work still not started?’ the AKDDSU questioned.
‘Delay in construction would hamper the development process of the district, since road is the primary element to develop other infrastructures,’ it said.
The union demanded that TK Engineering deploy sufficient tools and equipment in order to complete the TAH project in the district on time, ‘with super quality roads.’ It also urged the district administration to monitor the quality of work.
