KHONSA, Mar 24: Bikers took out an awareness rally on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (SBA) from Tinsukia (Assam) to Khonsa in Tirap district with the theme ‘Clean and green Tirap’ on Saturday.
The rally was organized in collaboration with the Care Northeast Foundation.
Addressing the gathering, Khonsa ADC Techu Aran said that cleanliness should start from every household. He stressed on cleanliness of public places such as the market area, the indoor stadium, the playground and drains.
The ADC asked all the shopkeepers to keep two dustbins in front of their shops’ premises. Non-compliance of the administrative order would invite penalty, Aran said.
Water, sanitation and waste management expert from Switzerland, Dr Sanjay K Gupta, said that the concept of mass bikers’ rally was for spreading awareness on SBA “in a global way.”
Dr Gupta lauded the Tirap district administration and the Khonsa Bazar Welfare Committee members for extending their cooperation for making the rally a successful one. (DIPRO)
