Four minor girls go missing from Wakro

WAKRO, Mar 26: In a suspected child trafficking case, four minor girls have been reported missing from Wakro in Lohit district.
According to an FIR lodged at the Tezu police station by the mother of one of the four missing children, the girls went missing on the evening of 21 March, and are suspected to have been trafficked outside the state.
While the age of one girl is 12 years, the ages of other three girls are stated to be 14, 15 and 16 years, the FIR stated.
Meanwhile, police in Tezu have launched an investigation after registering the case under Section 363/367 IPC.
Taking serious note of the incident, the Cultural and Literary Society of Mishmi (CALSOM) strongly appealed to the Lohit superintendent of police to launch prompt investigation in order to rescue the missing children.
The CALSOM urged the investigating team to probe every possible angle in their effort to trace out the whereabouts of the missing to ensure their safe return.
‘If anybody is found guilty of luring or enticing the innocent minor girls to run away from their respective homes, they must be booked under the relevant sections of the law to deter the recurrence of such crimes,’ it said.
