TEZU, Mar 27: Lohit Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki has emphasized on proper dissemination of information on MGNREGA at the grassroots level, so that maximum number of people can benefit from it.
Addressing an exit conference on social audit and social accountability here on Tuesday, the DC said well-informed villagers would result in transparent social audit and accountability.
He also spoke about the significance and objective of MGNREGA, which provides employment opportunities in rural areas, enabling livelihood asset creation. Leki congratulated the district resource person (DRP) and the village resource persons (VRP) for successfully conducting 20 social audits in 20 gram panchayats.
Social audit DRP Jonomo Rondo handed over the 20 gram panchayat social audit reports of the 2016-17 financial year under MGNREGA to the DC, which were implemented by the gram panchayats under the Rural Development department, and executed by the Tezu block development officer (BDO).
He informed that the director of the social audit unit set a target to complete 20 gram panchayat segments within the social audit calendar for the 2016-17 financial year, which has been achieved with the help of the VRPs.
Besides the BDO, the DRP and VRPs, the DRDA project director also attended the conference. (DIPRO)
