ITANAGAR, Mar 27: A team of the state unit of Anna Samarthak, led by its chairman Serpi Flago joined Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption crusade at Ram Leela Maidan in New Delhi recently.
Hazare and others are on an indefinite hunger strike since 23 March, demanding implementation of Lokpal, Lokayukta and Uplokayukta in all the states of India.
A release from the state unit of Anna Samarthak informed that on the fourth day of the hunger strike, Maharashtra’s Water Resources Minister, Girish Kumar Mahajan met Anna on behalf of the Centre and assured him that the Centre was making efforts to end the agrarian crisis.
‘He informed Anna and his national core committee members that the Centre has accepted 80 percent of their demands, and that it will be given to them in written form by 28 March,’ said Flago.
‘He stated that the Centre will accord priority to the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices. He also said that farmers who are above 60 years of age will get a monthly pension of Rs 5,000. He further said farmers’ products will be sold at the market with 1.5% profit. Anna Hazare, however, said that he will be satisfied only if the Centre agrees to his demands in writing,’ informed Flago.
