Former AAPSU leader passes away

ITANAGAR, Apr 1: Former All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) leader, Darasing Tayeng, passed away at the Bakin Pertin Memorial General Hospital in Pasighat on Saturday evening, following a long battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife Miti Libang, who is a ZPM, and a daughter.
Popularly known as ‘Dara Bhaiya’, Tayeng served the union in different capacities – as IPR secretary, convener, vice president and speaker – for a considerably long time.
His mortal remains will be laid to rest at his native village, Motum, in Mebo circle.
The AAPSU has deeply mourned Tayeng’s demise. AAPSU president Hawa Bagang termed his death a great loss to the union and the state as a whole.
“Late Tayeng served the union sincerely for a long time. In his death, we have lost a great youth icon of the state,” Bagang said.
“He was a fine human being and loved by the student community. AAPSU will always remember his contribution to the student community of the state,” said AAPSU general secretary Tobom Dai.
The union prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
