AAPPTF reiterates demand for regularization of contingency workers

ITANAGAR, Apr 2: The All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) has once again appealed to the authorities of the transport department and the chief minister to initiate steps to regularize the contingency workers who have served in the department for over a decade.
‘It is high time that the government regularized the aggrieved workers, so that they get what they are worthy of after serving the state for such a long period of time,’ AAPPTF president Dobing Sonam stated in a press release.
He said the federation is aggrieved that despite submitting several memorandums and representations to the authorities concerned and the chief minister’s office, no concrete step has been taken so far in this regard.
‘Most of the workers in the directorate of transport have been rendering their valuable service to the department as contingency staffers since its establishment, and they are still doing so religiously. Though the department alone provides a turnover of Rs 25 crore per annum to the state exchequer, most of its employees, right from a peon to an LDC, are still stuck, either on contingency or on functional basis. This is despite the fact that most of them have been appointed through proper selection process,’ Sonam said.
The federation also appealed to the government to create the required posts and regularize the deserving persons.
