Governor for expediting land acquisition for Army firing ranges

ITANAGAR, Apr 9: Governor BD Mishra on Monday instructed Land Management Secretary SK Jain to resolve the issue of setting up of Army field firing ranges in the state, and to “make comprehensive plans so that it can be presented to and expeditiously approved by the state government.”
He issued the instruction during a meeting with Lt Gen Gopal R (GOC 3 Corps, Dimapur) Maj Gen Bhaskar Kalita (GOC 56 Infantry Division) and Col Sakeet at the Raj Bhavan to discuss issues related to land acquisition for the Army. Jain, along with PCCF Omkar Singh also attended the meeting.
The people of the state support setting up of Army firing training fields, and for that reasonable land compensation should be provided, the governor said.
The governor and the Army officers also discussed other matters of importance regarding the security of the borders.
“The security of the nation is of prime importance and has to be given top priority,” Mishra said.
The officers briefed the governor on the Army’s dedicated welfare measures for the welfare of the civilians. (PRO)
