Subansiri Bridge on verge of collapse

DAPORIJO, Apr 9: The bridge over the Subansiri river here in Upper Subansiri district is on the verge of collapse.
Deputy Commissioner Danish Ashraf discovered this when he, along with other officers on Monday inspected the condition of the roads in Daporijo township and nearby areas, as well as the bridge.
The team found that the bridge, which had been repaired a month ago with the help of the Border Roads Organisation, is in a deteriorating condition, with several iron plates on it damaged.
The DC spoke to officials of the PWD (highway) and the union road transport ministry for early maintenance of the bridge in order to prevent untoward incidents.
Subansiri Bridge is the lifeline of the district, and its breaking down would paralyze socio-economic activities in the district. (DIPRO)
