Minister inaugurates JE office

SILLE, Apr 15: Power Minister Tamiyo Taga inaugurated the junior engineers’ office-cum-enquiry billing and collection centre here in East Siang district on Sunday.
Taga said the office would greatly benefit the consumers of the area.
He also urged the people welcome hydropower projects in the larger interest of the state.
“Siang, Simang and Yamne rivers have immense potential and must be tapped properly for progress and prosperity of the present and future generations,” he said, adding that people should not raise issues “without understanding its impact assessment appraisal and redressal schemes.”
Taga cited the successful functioning of the Ranganadi hydropower project and the establishment of the Kameng project to drive his point home.
He also gave assurance that high-mast lights would be installed at vital locations like the Ruksin check gate, Raneghat Bridge, and others.
Agriculture Parliamentary Secretary Tatung Jamoh, who is also the local MLA, highlighted the upcoming and ongoing projects in his constituency. All praise for the power department, he opined that the department’s staff deserved “13 months’ salary, like the police personnel.”
He urged the department to open collection centres at Mirem also, “to minimize the misery of the consumers.”
Among others, DC Tamiyo Tatak, Power EE Joram Lali, ZPMs T Panyang and T Taki, GBs and the public of Sille-Oyan were present at the function. (DIPRO)
