Mopin celebrations continue

AALO, Apr 15: The people of Kombo Pomte village in West Siang district celebrated Mopin festival with traditional fervour and gaiety on 13 April.
Attending the celebration, Tourism Minister Jarkar Gamlin said that festivals offer people the opportunity to rejoice and showcase their age-old values and practices.
He enumerated several development bills passed by the state government in the winter session of the Assembly, and hinted at taking up the construction of a multipurpose cultural hall in Kombo Pomte, to serve three Kombo villages.
PHED Executive Engineer Kirba Sora expressed appreciation for the people for celebrating the festival in its usual form.
He admitted that the water supply scheme taken up earlier cannot meet the needs of the growing population, but assured to take up the issue with the government. He also requested the minister’s intervention in launching a new scheme for the village in this regard.
Celebration committee members, village elders, and gaon burahs also spoke on the occasion. (DIPRO)
