ZIRO, Apr 15: The Lower Subansiri district administration in collaboration with the sports department felicitated the champions of the 2nd Hangpan Dada Memorial Football Trophy in a function here on Saturday.
ADC Nending Chatung congratulated the Lower Subansiri team for bringing laurels to the district.
“I am glad our youths today are taking sports seriously. We have the agility and the talent to become good sportspersons; what is required is dedication, sincerity and discipline,” he said.
EAC Mokar Riba advised the players to take up sports as a career. “With the government allocating 10% job reservation for sportspersons, we must encourage our youths to take up sports,” he said.
District Football Association general secretary Joram Apa informed that the sports calendar for the year would be finalized soon.
He said that once the outdoor stadium in Hapoli is completed, bigger tournaments can be hosted. This, he said, would change the sports scenario of the district and the state as a whole.
District Olympic Association (DOA) secretary general Toko Soni also spoke.
DOA president Nani Takha, District Football Association vice president Pura Talo, and DSO Ajong Sitek were also present at the function.
