PASIGHAT, Apr 18: The locals of Pasighat West area have alleged poor quality renovation work along Pasighat-Ledum-Tene road by Pasighat division of Public Work Department (PWD).
The department is taking up the renovation work of the existing worn-out road from Yagrung (Kangkong) gate to Remi bridge portion under Pasighat Sub-division. It is alleged that the ongoing re-carpeting work is being done on the muddy road without refilling or cleaning the debris.
The East Siang deputy commissioner, following public complaint, has ordered an inquiry into the allegation.
East Siang unit of Students’ United Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA) has also served 10 days ultimatum to PWD officials for rectification of the defective road work.
Meanwhile, a similar allegation has also been received from All Changlang District Students’ Union (ACDSU).
The students’ union, in a release, alleged that the quality of road works from Lilong to Khimyang 21km under Khimyang circle is below par quality.
The ACDSU alleged that the road is not being constructed as per the DPR. “Hill rock boulders are being used instead to river boulders for construction of slab culverts, protection wall, WBM etc,” it said.
The union also said that the width of the road formation cutting has also been found be for four meters only, when it is supposed to be seven meters.
Further, soil is also being dumped on the slopes of the road and may pose danger to commuters, the ACDSU said and demanded that the Changlang deputy commissioner set up a monitoring committee to oversee the road construction works.
