PALIN, May 3: Amidst reports of the Palin branch of State Bank of India (SBI) reportedly remaining closed for the last two weeks causing much inconvenience to the customers, the SBI Regional Manager, Itanagar has on Thursday, informed that the branch was facing connectivity issues following repair of the VSAT.
“An engineer was rushed to the district for the repair work which took time”, the RM stated, adding that the connectivity issue has been addressed and the branch has resumed its operations.
Earlier, the All Kra Daadi District Student’s Union (AKDDSU) had in a press release on Wednesday, claimed that a team of the students union, following public complaints, recently visited Palin to ascertain the fact, where the bank was found to be closed.
‘According to the public and statement given by the bank staff, the bank remains closed because of irregular manager, bad link and shortage of staff,’ the union claimed, adding that customers’ service in the bank has not been improved despite repeated appeals made to the general manager of SBI Itanagar Regional Branch.
The union also informed that there is no ATM in the entire district.
The students’ union also questioned the district administration for remaining a mute spectator to the problem faced by the people. It alleged that the district administration has never discussed the matter with the higher authority of the bank to solve the problem.
