Ensure 24 hours electricity supply to consumers: DC

TAWANG, May 3: Deputy Commissioner Sang Phuntsok directed the Power department to work towards ensuring 24 hours electricity supply to the consumers in Tawang district.
He said this during a coordination meeting with the Power and Hydro Power Development departments here on Thursday. Taking stock of the power scenario in the district, the deputy commissioner noted that the hydels generate sufficient power to cater to the present requirement.
On enquiry over frequent tripping and voltage fluctuation by Deputy Commissioner Sang Phuntsok, the department officials informed that the disruption in services is because of the “age-old and obsolete” existing line.
He advised the Power department to take preventive measures by carrying out maintenance work at regular intervals sincerely. He also asked the officials to prepare a concept paper on augmentation and modernisation of transmission and distribution line for the district, so that it could be placed before appropriate authorities.
He also enquired on the status of the installation of consumer meters and called for creating awareness to reduce consumption of energy.
The DC also asked the officers concerned to ensure that incoming calls or complaints received in the enquiry office are properly attended to.
The meeting was attended by executive engineers, along with their assistant and junior engineers. (DIPRO)
