Admin organizes soccer match to promote plastic-free capital

ITANAGAR, May 13: IMWA-XI defeated DC-XI by 4-1 goals in a friendly football match organized by the capital complex district administration with the theme ‘Say no to plastic’ on the occasion of Mother’s Day on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Secretary Satya Gopal urged the people to say no to plastic, and lauded the administration for its initiative to create a plastic-free capital.
“Let us dedicate this special day to our mothers and take the pledge to say no to plastic,” he said.
Advocating promoting paper, jute bags, and other substitutes in place of plastic, he urged the Itanagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA) to ensure that plastic is not used in the markets.
DC Prince Dhawan suggested that the people should be made aware of the effects of plastic on the environment, prior to enforcing ban of plastic.
He sought the IMWA’s cooperation in its endeavour to phase out the use of plastic. (DIPRO)
