Governor urges parents to encourage children towards sports

ITANAGAR, May 13: Governor BD Mishra has urged parents and guardians to encourage their wards to take up games and sports to maintain a healthy lifestyle and bring laurels to the state.
Mishra said this on Sunday during a function at Raj Bhavan to felicitate ‘badminton players of Raj Bhavan badminton stadium’ who won medals, and also those who participated in the recently concluded 2nd edition of the North East Junior Prize Money Badminton tournament.
He said motivating children and youths towards sporting activities would help promote a healthy environment and contain drug abuse and other social menace.
The governor advised the shuttlers to work harder to hone their techniques and win awards at national and international levels.
“The players of the state have huge potential and they can to better than others in every arena of the game,” he said.
Mishra advised shuttlers in the age group of 4-15 years to focus on their game but also to concentrate on their studies. (PRO)
