DAPORIJO, May 14: Three families in Riddi village in Upper Subansiri district were rendered homeless after their houses were destroyed by fire in the wee hours of Monday.
A woman, identified as Yada Riddi, suffered severe burn injuries while escaping the flames. She has been admitted in the district hospital here.
The fire, which broke out at around 1.30 am, reduced the houses to ashes. Properties including local ornaments were also destroyed. The cause of the fire, however, is yet to be ascertained.
Gusar ZPM Putu Bui has appealed to the district administration to provide immediate relief to the affected families. He also urged the authority concerned to assess the damages caused by the fire.
