State’s first e-hospital launched

ITANAGAR, May 21: The first e-hospital of the state was inaugurated at the Itafort urban primary health centre (UPHC) here on Monday by Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan.
The DC informed that the project has been implemented in collaboration with the NIC, the health department, and the IT&C department. He expressed hope that with the launch of the e-hospital “there will be transparency and accountability in the way hospital management works.”
Dhawan informed that the e-hospital will enable online registration and appointment, and will provide patient-centric services like viewing lab reports, status, etc, for the convenience of the patients.
“Moreover, all the details of the patients will be available on the e-hospital’s website, thereby reducing the burden of carrying huge files of reports with them if they go out to other hospitals,” he said.
He advised the e-hospital’s doctors and staff to adopt work culture and to become role models for other hospitals in the state.
The DC informed that, as per this year’s budget announcement, e-hospitals will also be established in Bomdila, Aalo, Tawang, Pasighat, Tezu, and Ziro. “The project is already under process at TRIHMS, Naharlagun,” he said.
Health Services Director Dr M Lego expressed hope that the system would streamline the functioning of the Itafort UPHC with the help of modern technology.
He stressed that the system should be adopted, and urged the e-hospital’s staff to “get into the habit of e-office.”
As complete healthcare is a human right, he said, the project has been launched with the aim of prioritizing healthcare in the state. He lauded the e-hospital’s MO In-charge Dr Kabak Tamar for his effort in making the UPHC the first in the state to adopt the e-hospital.
State Informatics Officer Saibal Sarkar, IT&C Director Neelam Yapin Tana, IT&C Joint Director Hano Taka, Papum Pare DMO Dr Tasso Kampu Subu, DRCHO Dr J Ado, and a host of other officers were present on the occasion.
