ITANAGAR, Jun 23: Taking serious note of the reported illegal mobilization of immigrants from borders of neighbouring countries, such as Bangladesh and Myanmar, the All Kamle District Youth Association (AKDYA) has requested the district administration for immediate phase-wise verification of Inner Line Permits (ILP) in the entire district.
In a three-point representation submitted to the Kamle district deputy commissioner, the association stated that “phase-wise check of ILPs in the entire district is the need of the hour to check the influx of illegal immigrants”.
Meanwhile, the association, on 20 June last carried out the first phase of its ILP verification drive from Surya to Kemliko village, covering the district headquarters Raga under the theme “Operation Clean Drive”.
During the drive, hundreds of non-Arunachal Pradesh Scheduled Tribes without valid ILPs and 27 suspected immigrants without any proof of Indian citizenship were found.
They were later handed over to the police and magistrate for further course of action.
Expressing concern over the adverse effects of influx of illegal migrants and immigrants and its consequences, such as growing rate of crimes, the association fervently appealed to the district administration to conduct the next phase of ILP verification in all the remaining administrative centres of the district.
