ITANAGAR, Jul 1: The state government has constituted a two-member committee to inquire into “the alleged issue of false ST certificates in favour of three persons, namely, Dr Sonam Tsoma, Dr Sonam Dolma and Dr Pema Dolma,” according to an order issued by the chief secretary on 29 June.
Divisional Commissioner (West) Gamli Padu is the chairman and West Kameng Deputy Commissioner Sonal Swaroop is the member of the committee, which will submit its findings to the government.
Meanwhile, the All Tawang District Students’ Union has deferred the 12-hour district bandh it had proposed to impose on 2 July under its ‘Operation Clean Drive’, saying it has received assurance from the state government that it would meet the union’s demands.
The bandh was announced in protest against illegal issuance of ST certificates to Tibetan refugees in the district, and to press the demand for immediate cancellation of the illegally issued documents.
The union’s Operation Clean Drive team is scheduled to meet the chief secretary in Itanagar to seek early fulfillment of its demands.
