DC reviews schools’ performance

LONGDING, Jul 3: Longding DC VS Mallik reviewed the district’s dismal performance in the CBSE examinations during a meeting with principals, headmasters, teachers, BEOs and others here on Tuesday.
Ways to improve the schools’ performance in the coming years were also discussed during the meeting.
While the principals in the reports blamed the unavailability of textbooks and subject teachers, and the no-detention policy for the poor performance, DDSE Mongol Taki called for ensuring 75% attendance by students.
GHSS Principal (in-charge) Changwang Wangsa informed that most of the primary schools in the villages are run by single teachers, and called for developing the education system at the basic level.
The participants agreed to adopt a ‘log book system’ for all the teachers of secondary and higher secondary schools to check the performance of the teachers.
The DC appealed to the teachers to be more committed towards their job and justify the salary the government is paying for the purpose.
“Good infrastructure, good roads and sufficient textbooks are just not enough reasons to bring development. It is only education through which you can bring social revolution. If you commit yourselves to justify the profession, we can definitely achieve the goal,” he said.
The meeting also discussed proper implementation of MDM scheme in the schools, besides bank accounts and Aadhaar enrollment. (DIPRO)
