ITANAGAR, Jul 7: Following a joint consultative meeting held here on Saturday, the Indigenous Faith & Cultural Society of Arunachal Pradesh (IFCSAP) said it has “adopted a future action plan for a statewide social movement” against Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s statement on repealing the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion (APFR) Act, 1978.
All IFCSAP district units, community-based indigenous faith organisations and sister organisations, especially participants from the districts, were vocal about carrying out processions, dharnas and strikes across the state as a reaction to the CM’s “insensible” press statement, the IFCSAP said.
It said representatives of the organizations would call on the chief minister and urge him to withdraw his statement.
On 28 June, addressing an event, the chief minister had said that the APFR Act would be brought before the next assembly session for its repeal.
