AAPSU calls for shifting of ASNS from Naharlagun

ITANAGAR, Jul 12: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has requested the state government to shift the Arunachal State Nursing School (ASNS) from Naharlagun to a suitable location with permanent infrastructure.
Demanding adequate faculty members and staff for the nursing school, the AAPSU in a representation to the health minister on Thursday said the present location of the ASNS near the TRIHMS is not suitable for running a nursing school.
On 23 June, the hostel block of the 2nd and 3rd year students of the nursing school was about to collapse due to heavy rainfall and construction activities for the TRIHMS in the adjacent area, the AAPSU said.
“Since its establishment in 2014, the ASNS has been functioning in a very haphazard way, without the required manpower and proper infrastructure for both students and teaching staff,” it said, adding that the nursing school does not fulfill even the basic requirements prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council.
