NAHARLAGUN, Jul 17: Capital Complex FC retained the Arunachal Women’s League title, beating Arunachal Sporting Club (ASC) 4-1 in the final at RG Stadium here on Tuesday.
However, it was ASC’s Kai Rumi who put her team ahead, scoring in the 10th minute. She netted the goal taking the advantage of an error committed by the goalkeeper.
Capital Complex came back strongly and found the equalizer in the 18th minute through Techi Akung. She scored one more goal before Roshni Ramching extended the lead to 3-1 in the 45th minute.
Achom Degio further extended the lead to 4-2 by scoring in the 47th minute.
ASC had a chance to avenge the last year’s final defeat by the same opponent.
Techi Akung of Capital Complex became the highest scorer with 16 goals in her kitty, while the ‘player of the tournament’ award went to Nabam Kamyi of the same team.
Maidyamsai Tailu of ASC was adjudged the ‘best goalkeeper’ for the second consecutive year.
Sports & Youth Affairs Minister Dr Mohesh Chai attended the closing function. In his brief speech, Dr Chai emphasized the need of a proper sports policy in the state to produce sportspersons of international repute.
He advised the sportspersons to practice hard to become better players.
