Villagers asked to restrain cattle to prevent FMD

SILUK, Jul 20: Mebo Veterinary Officer Dr Oying Tayeng on Friday advised the residents of Siluk village to house their cattle in hygienic sheds and prevent them from roaming free in order to prevent the spread of foot and mouth disease (FMD).
Meanwhile, the Silukian Welfare Kebang informed in a release that a veterinary team equipped with sufficient medicines and equipment is currently camping at Siluk for treating FMD affected cattle. It said FMD has been contained “to a great extent” in the area.
Former ASM Delem Damin urged the villagers to support the veterinary team in carrying out mass vaccination of cattle.
