ZIRO, Jul 23: The Apatani Students’ Union (ASU) has said it will go ahead with its proposed 12-hour Ziro-Hapoli bandh on 24 July, after the expiry of the ultimatum the union had served to the Lower Subansiri district administration to fulfill its various demands.
“Consequent upon the failure of the district administration to address the demands, the first phase of the 12-hour bandh has been declared on 24 July from 5 am,” the ASU said in a release.
The union has been demanding restart of the defunct science stream in the government higher secondary school (GHSS) here, with posting of the required teachers; demarcation of the boundary of the GHSS; and furnishing of the list of beneficiaries under the TAH project, along with the detailed amounts and areas acquired.
The union had on 13 July served a 10-day ultimatum to the deputy commissioner, demanding fulfillment of its demands.
