ITANAGAR, Jul 24: Informing that the residents of Forest Corporation Colony and Sangrik Hapa Colony are facing shortage of electricity supply as there is only one transformer for both the colonies, the Forest Corporation & Sangrik Hapa Colony Welfare Committee (FCSHCWC) in a representation to the power minister on Tuesday requested him to direct the authorities concerned to install another transformer to improve electricity supply in the colonies the earliest.
“There is only one transformer for both Forest Colony and Sangrik Hapa Colony at Chimpu. The lone transformer could not supply sufficient electricity to large number of consumers there. Students cannot study due to low voltage during the night,” claimed FCSHCWC president Jikke Tapik Taniu, adding that despite procuring a separate transformer for Sangrik Hapa Colony, the power supply has still not improved “following non-arrival of materials required for setting up the transformer.”
The FCSHCWC said it would resort to democratic action if the authorities fail to address the issue soon.
