ITANAGAR, Jul 26: Capital Complex Superintendent of Police Harsh Vardhan flagged off the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union’s (AAPSU) statewide sanitation and hygiene awareness campaign, themed ‘Be clean; be healthy’, at the government higher secondary school here on Thursday.
Addressing the students, teachers and NESO and AAPSU members, the SP advised the students to work hard to achieve the goal of cleanliness and sanitation in the state. He commended the AAPSU for taking up the movement of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, saying cleanliness is “one of the core goals of the central government.”
AAPSU president Hawa Bagang said the union would apprise the government of the need to solve the water scarcity problem of the school. He advised the school committee to initiate social service activities in the school campus.
AAPSU general secretary Tobom Dai highlighted the objectives of the campaign and appealed to the students to continue keeping the school campus clean.
As part of the flag-off ceremony, AAPSU executive members along with the staff and students of the school cleaned the school’s surroundings and toilets.
The AAPSU expressed appreciation for the cooperation from the school committee, the police department and the fire brigade during the cleanliness drive. It handed over water filters, dustbins and other sanitation articles for the school, which were received by the school’s vice-principal.
