NAHARLAGUN, Aug 8: Women and Child Development (WCD) Commissioner, Gamli Padu and WCD department Director, TP Loyi inspected the child care institutions run by Oju Welfare Association and Missionaries of Charity here on Wednesday.
The inspection was carried out in the wake of rising reports of child sexual abuse in child care institutions nationwide. The duo also interacted with the children and staff of both the institutions, which are registered under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015.
These shelters are providing temporary shelter, food, counselling, vocational training and schooling to children in need of care and protection as per the provisions of the Act.
They also visited the Specialised Adoption Agency, the Swadhar Greh and the Women Helpline run by Oju Welfare Association here.
