DAPORIJO, Aug 9: Power Minister Tamiyo Taga on Thursday deputed officials of the department to assess the damage caused to the panel board of the 132/33 kv transformer of the electricity substation here.
The panel board was burnt up following a voltage flashover that occurred in the midnight of 8 August. Fire brigade and police personnel doused the fire before it could spread.
Following the damage, power supply from Ziro to Daporijo and other central and eastern parts of the state had to be shut down as a precautionary measure. However, power supply to the other parts, except Daporijo, was restored on Thursday.
Taga also asked the team of officials to “unearth the cause behind the mishap.”
The minister further opined that some of the “extra high voltage” substations at Aalo and Deomali are vulnerable and require “immediate maintenance through special funding.”
