ITANAGAR, Aug 13: A three-month internship training programme for BSc forestry students of five different colleges attached with the State Forest Research Institute (SFRI) began here on Monday.
Forty-three trainees have been enrolled for the programme on forestry fieldwork experience and hands-on training on forestry-based industries.
Addressing the inaugural function, SFRI Director Dusu Shra advised the students to take the training seriously, and urged them not to hesitate with queries.
Shra also urged the DFOs concerned to “extend cooperation and support along the training programme.”
DFO (Silviculture) Nani Sha advised the trainees to “maintain utmost discipline,” and informed them of the limitations and constraints in the financial support system from the department.
Scientist RK Taj explained the activities and syllabus of the programme, and asked the trainees to be sincere, disciplined and dedicated, while scientist Dr G Murtem spoke on various career scopes.
