DC inspects NERCORMP projects

KHONSA, Aug 19: Tirap Deputy Commissioner PN Thungon on Sunday inspected the project activities implemented by the natural resource management groups under the North Eastern Region Community Resource Management Project (NERCORMP) at Lapnan, Kheti and Thinsa villages.
The DC expressed satisfaction over the implementation of the project in the district, and assured to provide support and guidance to make the project beneficial to the needy people of the district.
He advised the officials to start early documentation of the success stories of the project, “so that it can be adopted by others in the development sector in the state.”
Interacting with members of the women self-help groups (SHGs) under the project, the DC highlighted the important social issues related to women empowerment. He advised the SHG members to take up economic activities such as banana plantation, and avocado and mixed vegetable cultivation to supplement the revolving fund supported by the NERCORMP project.
The DC was accompanied by RWD Assistant Engineer Likwang Lowang, Tirap and Longding NERCORMP Director Ruzing Bellai, and others during the visit.
