ITANAGAR, Aug 20: The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) observed the 74th birth anniversary of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi as Sadbhavana Divas on 20 August at Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan here.
Former chief minister and Sagalee MLA Nabam Tuki administered the ‘sadbhavana’ pledge to the party leaders, workers and others present on the occasion.
Offering floral tributes to Gandhi’s portrait, Tuki recalled the former prime minister as the pioneer of IT, “the fruits of which are being tasted now in the country.”
He highlighted Rajiv Gandhi’s role in bringing a revolution in the country through IT and various other sectors.
He said the contributions made by the former prime minister for the welfare of the people and development of the country would always be remembered.
AIMC secretary and the party’s in-charge for Arunachal Pradesh Kim Hoakip Shangnaisui, Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan state convenor Jaya Joram, and APCC vice-president Rajen Nani also spoke.
The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Seva Dal also observed Sadbhavna Divas. Seva Dal members carried out a tree plantation drive at Naharlagun Gandhi Market to mark the occasion.
State Seva Dal president Kipa Kaha also recalled the former premier’s contributions in the field of information technology and reconstruction of rural India through the panchayati raj institutions.
