CHIMPU, Aug 21: Abor FC and Solung United joined Banggo United and Siang United in the last four to complete the semifinal lineup of the Itanagar Solung Football Tournament 2018.
Abor FC battled to a hard-fought 4-3 extra-time win over Kine Nane FC in the third quarterfinal played at the APPBn ground here on Tuesday. The match went to extra time after both the teams were locked 3-3 in the regulation time.
Ojing Mirang, who scored the winner, was adjudged ‘player of the match’.
Solung United secured the semifinal berth, defeating Gabang FC 3-1.
The team (Solung United) started the match on an attacking note, but failed to score, mainly due to poor finishing.
The match remained goalless at the breather.
After a barren first-half, Solung United scored through Kaling Tatin (36th and 41st minutes) and Honuk Tayeng (54th minute).
Gabang FC pulled one back through Angoi Mibang in the 57th minute.
Kaling was adjudged ‘player of the match’.
Solung United will lock horns with Abor FC in the semifinal.
Another semifinal will be held between Banggo FC and Siang United.
Both the semifinals will be played on 23 August.
Solung football tourney begins
Our Roing correspondent adds: The Solung Lune Football Tournament 2018 of Bolung village was kicked off by former ZPM Starson Saring at the Bolung football field here on Monday.
The inaugural match was played between Ayang Sirum FC and Siimiin Sirum FC, and ended in 1-1 draw.
Thirteen teams are participating in the tournament this year. The final will be played on 14 September.
Football lovers, villagers and former panchayat leaders of the area were present during the opening ceremony.
