A thanksgiving letter

Dear Editor,
The long-pending demand of the people of 29-Basar Assembly Constituency was at last transformed into a reality by the people-friendly BJP government under the dynamic, visionary and pro-people’s leadership of CM Pema Khandu by creating Lepa Rada district with headquarters at Basar along with two more new districts, namely, Pakke Kessang and Shi-Yomi with approval of the Reorganization of Districts (Amendment) Bill 2018 in the recently concluded Legislative Assembly session.
Indeed, the demand was raised in the form of public memorandum which was submitted to the then CM Gegong Apang on 17/10/2003 for up-gradation of the existing ADC (Independent) Sub-Divisional Administrative centre, Basar to a full fledged Deputy Commissioner Administrative Headquarters.
With the passing of the Bill and creation of Lepa Rada district, local MLA Gojen Gadi, all the Galo legislators, the GWS, the District Demand Action Committee (DDAC), 29-Basar Assembly Constituency, and the people of Basar in particular and the entire Galo community in general are extremely happy beyond expression in words. Their collective efforts and persistent endeavor for the last ten years, since political commitment made by the then CM Late Dorjee Kandhu at Basar on 10/12/2008 for the cause of new district, bear fruits.
We extend our sincere thanks and gratefulness to the CM Pema Khandu who had demonstrated strong political will and made right decision in the interest of the people and the state, and finally delivered the Lepa Rada district as the greatest gift to the people of Basar.
Further, we extend our heartiest thanks to DCM Chowna Mein, the council of ministers, Chief Secretary Satya Gopal, Lower Siang Deputy Commissioner A.K. Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner incharge Basar Horki Dium and all their team for making our dream come true.
By fulfilling the long pending demand for the Lepa Rada district, CM Pema Khandu has also fulfilled the legacy of his father and former CM Lt. Dorjee Khandu.
In true sense, we are indebted to CM Pema Khandu. Therefore, his good name will be remembered and written in golden colour in the history of the creation of Lepa Rada district.
Sincere thanks from the people of 29-Basar go to the present GWS President and General Secretary Dr. Mitum Boje and Dr. Minge Loyi respectively as well as previous GWS President and General Secretary Dr. Emi Rumi and Mokir Ori respectively and all their entire central executive team for their support, cooperation, guidance, active involvement and valuable contributions for the cause of creation of the Lepa Rada district.
We also extend our sincere thanks to former Minister Doi Ado for his moral support and for being Chairman of the Technical Session for the “District Issue” during Xth Galo Baane Keba at New Daring in 2015.
The people of 29-Basar in particular and the Galo community in general are also very much thankful to Union MoS for Home, Kiren Rijiju, and state BJP President Tapir Gao for their moral support in creation of the district.
Further, we extend our sincere thanks to the then Chief Secretary Tabom Bam (IAS), who was actively involved in the early phase of the movement. We would also like to thank and congratulate all the stake-holders including DDAC members and advisors, native officers and officials, Panchayat leaders, public leaders, GBs, students organizations– (BASU, TASU, DASU) and GRK, APWWS (BU), NGOs, youths, business community and general public of our constituency for their persistent effort, contribution, involvement, patience and perseverance to reach our goal.
We extend our sincere thanks and congratulation to our local MLA Gojen Gadiji under whose leadership, hard works and vigorous persuasion since the beginning, the people’s aspiration for Lepa Rada District with its headquarters at Basar has been fulfilled.
Last but not the least, the leadership and the people of 29-Basar sincerely feel that we shall be failing in our obligatory duty if we forget the then CM, Lt. Dorjee Khandu who had given us political commitment at Basar on 10th December 2008 paving the way for creation of Lepa Rada district.
Yours,
Gojum Basar,
Chairman,
District Demand Action Committee (DDAC)
