SANGTI, Sep 15: The ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak (ICAR-NRCY) conducted an awareness programme on ‘scientific feeding of yak and yak cattle hybrids’ and distributed animal feed at Sangti village in Dirang circle of West Kameng district on 15 September.
During the programme, the farmers were briefed on scientific breeding, feeding, and health management of their livestock.
Dirang KVK Head Dr ND Singh briefed the participants on integrated organic farming and its importance in meeting the Centre’s aim of doubling the farmers’ incomes by 2022.
Sangti GB Passang Tsering lauded the efforts of ICAR-NRCY Director Dr P Chakravarty for conducting the programme and bringing the benefits of the Tribal Sub-Plan funds of the institute to the livestock farmers in the form of concentrate feed, common salts, complete feed blocks, and basic veterinary medicines.
The programme was conducted with active participation and support of the institute’s senior scientist Dr D Medhi, principal scientist (animal physiology) Dr V Paul, and scientist (livestock products technology) Dr TP Singh, along with other staffers.
