Change patriarchal mindset: Tuki

ITANAGAR, Sep 15: Former chief minister Nabam Tuki stressed on the need to change the patriarchal mindset of the society.
Tuki said this while speaking at a function organised here on Saturday to celebrate the 35th foundation day of the Mahila Congress.
“The women should be given equal opportunities to help them enjoy a dignified life,” Tuki said, adding that women’s empowerment should be highlighted in the right perspective to inspire the young girls to move ahead.
APCC president Takam Sanjoy while lauding the contributions of the Mahila Congress called on its members to show zero tolerance towards any atrocities against women, “as nobody is above the law.”
APMCC president Nabam Yakum called for enhancement of women’s reservation from 33% to 50%.
Earlier, Tuki handed over a letter of appreciation from AICC president Rahul Gandhi to the APMCC president.
AIMC general secretary in charge of Arunachal Pradesh SS Kim, and APMCC general secretary Chuku Nasi also spoke.
