BORGULI, Sep 24: Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) R Kemp on Sunday visited the Borguli range of Daying Ering Wildlife Sanctuary (DEWS) to take stock of the flood damages within the sanctuary.
The PCCF observed with dismay that the range office, the forester barracks, and a watchtower in Borguli have been washed away by the Siang river.
Pasighat Divisional Forest Officer (WL) Tasang Taga submitted an estimate of Rs 1.67 crore to the PCCF to meet the losses and damages on account of the recent flood. The DFO also sought two river patrol boats (speed boats).
Taga urged the PCCF to take prompt steps for regularization of about a dozen contingency staffers serving in the wildlife division, besides formulating an effective mechanism for protection of the wildlife in and around the sanctuary.
