ITANAGAR, Sep 25: Capital Complex Deputy Commissioner Prince Dhawan launched free wi-fi service at Akashdeep Complex here on Tuesday.
The DC informed that each device would be provided up to 2 gb per day, after which there would be charges for the service.
He expressed hope that the traders would now find it convenient in making digital payments.
“Such a step will bring transparency as well as invite more customers through digital payment, which would reduce the burden of bringing along cash for payment,” Dhawan said.
He informed that two networks have been provided: one for the traders (DA ICC-Traders) for regular use, and the other for the public (DA ICC-Public), and that the area of wi-fi network starts from Nirvachan Bhawan to RKM post office.
The DC also distributed biometric devices to shopkeepers for transaction through Aadhaar-linked payments.
He thanked the Itanagar Market Welfare Association (IMWA) for its cooperation, and expressed hope that the association would ensure that digital payment would be encouraged throughout the market community.
During the same event, the IT director signed an MoU with Vodafone, the network provider.
IT Project Officer Goter Duchi informed that the activities of each device in the wi-fi network can be tracked and monitored by the network administrator of the IT&C department.
Among others, IT Director Neelam Yapin Tana, Itanagar EAC Hengo Basar, and IMWA president Yumlang Achung were present at the programme. (DIPRO)
